CORONAVIRUS UPDATE

As we are sure you are aware, the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic is currently affecting Americans at an alarming rate. We are diligently following the guidance and best practices from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to address your health and well-being.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) is characterized by mild symptoms of:

  • Runny Nose

  • Sore Throat

  • Cough

  • Fever above 100.4 degrees

  • Difficulty Breathing (in severe cases)

The illness can be more severe for some people, leading to pneumonia and fatalities. Older people, and people with certain medical conditions (such as asthma, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, HIV/AIDS, lung disease, lupus, etc.) may be more vulnerable to becoming severely ill. If you would like further general information regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19), please call the Georgia Department of Public Health Hotline at 1-866-782-4584 or go to https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html for more information.

In light of this current pandemic and possible mandatory quarantines, EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, we are temporarily canceling ALL non-emergent appointments including annual adult and child physicals, Medicare annual wellness exams, preventative gynecology/pap screenings, lab follow-ups, weight loss visits, and sports physicals. We will reschedule those appointments as soon as possible.

If you are experiencing any of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms above, DO NOT VISIT THE OFFICE. Please CALL us at 678-574-3000 and we will provide you with the proper guidance.

If you have an appointment scheduled for a non-coronavirus sick visit, we ask that you abide by the following guidelines in order to maintain proper social distancing:

  1. Upon arrival, please come to the entrance to check-in and your temperature will be taken by a member of our medical staff.

  2. We ask that ONLY the scheduled patient visit the office for their appointment, unless special assistance is required.

  3. If your temperature is within normal range, we will ask you to return to your vehicle and await an escort from a member of our medical team to allow us the appropriate time to thoroughly clean each exam room and the waiting area for each patient.

E-VISITS/TELEMEDICINE

We will also begin to care for our patients remotely through telemedicine.  If you are a current patient and need a medication refill or have acute symptoms we can schedule an e-visit for you.  Please log in to our patient portal and send a message to schedule an appointment with Dr. Cheeks.

Your remote visit can be billed to your insurance with the appropriate copay. Please contact your insurance company to see if telemedicine visits are covered.  If you are a self-pay patient, the fee for the visit will be taken at the time of service.

If you require a written prescription, the doctor will see you remotely and we will schedule a pick-up time for your written prescription.

If you have any questions regarding these guidelines or your appointment, please call our office at 678-574-3000. We have been experiencing extremely high call volumes, so please leave a message with our answering service if you cannot reach us directly and we will return your call as soon as possible.

We want to remind everyone to continue diligently washing your hands with soap and water, covering your nose and mouth with a tissue when coughing and sneezing, and avoiding close contact with anyone displaying cold/flu symptoms.

We pray that you all stay safe and healthy amid this situation.

Best,

Dr. Curtis Cheeks
